Half-Day (2 hr 40 min)Difficult8.50 km675 m gain View Trail

The meetup place is at the end of Rosewood drive in the Rose valley neighborhood at 7am Sunday. Whoever named this hike could not have been more on point. The city on the edge of forever in this hike is Kelowna. We leave Rosewood cul-de-sac and head up towards Rose Valley reservoir. One of the reasons for leaving so early is it's way more comfortable walking while it’s the cool morning air. The other reason is because we need to be the first people on the trail as the canyon walls have a really cool feature that I will demonstrate for you. You'll just have to come to see what it is. You begin your ascent up and along the reservoir and before you know it you come to one of the coolest features that any Kelowna hike in the mountains has. Now Kelowna is the northern most tip of the Sonoran desert (the one that starts in Mexico and ends in Canada). And who knew that just like the rock arches in Utah that we have one as well. Minus the red rock of course, but it’s awesome and something only a desert would have. The other thing that's here is a cave as well.....so....we have to check that out too. After this feature the trail gets steep with some switchbacks for about half an hour then starts to level off. Once you get to the top you will see why this was aptly named city on the edge of forever taken from the penultimate (second to last) episode of Star Trek season 1 (1967). For those who have done this hike at night to see Kelowna's lights sitting on the edge of the dark reservoir canyon walls, then you know, beautiful. After this you'll walk the cliff edge for a bit and then hang a right on a trail called jabbarocky and begin your descent along the reservoir, just higher up then the trail below. Then back to your car. I figure we can do this in about 3 and a half hours. If you want to do this, great, sign up. If crowds don't do it for you, my suggestion would be get all trails, get a friend, get up early and do this hike. It really is one of Kelowna's best in my opinion.
