Major Site Update Amidst COVID Quarantine
I'll be honest in saying the technical site of Hike the Okanagan has seen a backseat the last few years in part due to so many of my moves, but also due to moving out of the Okanagan.
Being in self-isolation courtesty of Coronavirus has given me a lot of time to work on side projects and get things long overdue on my to do list done. There have been so many suggestions for the site over the years that I'd love to implement. Here are the two major changes coming this April 2020:
- Completely revamped website core code. This brings it up in line with current HTML/CSS/JavaScript standards for the best bug-free, cross-platform, experience possible.
- New social networking feature. There are nearly 8,000 people registered on our site that are patiently waiting for more hikes. With various regulations in place for social distancing, it's become nearly impossible to host big group hikes. The brand new user profiles area allows you to search other members on site and communicate back and forth. Share hiking ideas and meet others with a similar passion!
